Men and Ladies  Code of Conduct

Somerset Bowls Association  

Code of Conduct for Championship Players and Team Management (v2.2)  

A bowler shall, at all times, conduct himself/herself in a manner that reflects favourably upon fellow bowlers, county authorities and Somerset Bowls Association, both on and off the bowling green.

A Championship player is defined as any person chosen as a player or reserve for senior or junior county duty or in any trial team or squad selected by the Performance Committee.  He/she shall have the following obligations for the duration of any event.  

1                 Give priority to any squad get-together, practice match or event appertaining to his/her selection.

2                Observe at all times the relevant Rules and Regulations of the Somerset Bowls Association.

3                Accept control  by the appropriate Team Manager in all matters as follows:

a.              Dress – both on and off the green

b.              Squad get-together and practice

c.               Report at prescribed times punctually

d.              To adhere to any demands which may be imposed by the Team Manager

4                Inform the appropriate Team Manager of any medication being taken (as per item 5 on banned drugs) prior to or when participating in trials or relevant matches.  Inform the Team Manager of any personal circumstances which may affect his/her performance in the team.

5                To adhere to the currently applicable Drug Testing Policy of Bowls England.

6                Not to render himself/herself unfit through alcohol or drugs either on or away from the green. This includes no drinking before or during the game.

7                To show respect to colleagues, opponents and officials and not to subject them to any physical or verbal abuse at any time.

8               Smoking by a player is not permitted on or off the green whilst a game is in progress.
