Purpose of the Job:

  To lead the Executive Board (EB) in its administration of the game of bowls in Somerset

 

Expenses:         

  Fixed amount payable per annum (as agreed by the SBA EB) to cover travel

  Other expenses payable, to a ceiling agreed by the SBA EB and verified by receipts

 

Reports to:

  All the affiliated clubs, through the Council and the Annual General Meeting

 

Jobholder’s Team

  The Executive Board

 

Main Responsibilities:

  Chairing the EB, leading it and making a team out of it.

  Representing the SBA to the outside world

  Consulting widely to generate ideas and plans for development

  Managing these responsibilities within the budget set by the EB

  Reporting quarterly to the EB and annually to the Communications Meeting (each April), Council Meeting (each October) and AGM (each November)

  Chairing General Meetings

 

Measures of annual success:

  Number of EB members meeting their own criteria for success

  Income and expenditure against budget

  Number of new ideas

  Attendances at meetings

 

Other close working relationships with:

  Somerset’s “Bowls England” member (the General Secretary or other member of the EB)

 

Desirable Jobholder Qualities:

  Excellent leadership and management skills

  Good communication & interpersonal skills

  Familiarity with budgetary processes

  E-mail, telephone and mobile phone facilities

  Personal mobility
