Purpose of the Job:

Ø  To administer the game of bowls in Somerset

 

Expenses:         

Ø  Fixed amount payable per annum (as agreed by the SBA Executive Board (EB)) to cover travel

Ø  Other expenses payable, to a ceiling agreed by SBA EB and verified by receipts

 

Reports to:

Ø  The Chairman

 

Jobholder’s Team:

Ø  The Executive Board

Ø  Minutes Secretary(ies)

 

Main Responsibilities:

Ø  Representing the SBA with Bowls England (as the Bowls England Member[1]) and with other relevant outside organizations

Ø  Dealing with all correspondence

Ø  Maintaining an appropriate level of public liability insurance cover

Ø  Issuing notices of meetings and agendae for EB, Council and General Meetings

Ø  Recording and maintaining minutes of business transacted at those meetings

Ø  Gaining EB ratification for any assistants appointed, and managing and developing them to support the jobholder in discharging these responsibilities

Ø  Managing and co-ordinating all the individual contributions of the EB, including arbitrating over disputes and turf wars.

Ø  Consulting widely to generate ideas and plans for development

Ø  Managing these responsibilities within the budget set by the EB

Ø  Reporting quarterly to the EB and annually to the Communications Meeting (each April), Council Meeting (each October) and AGM (each November)

 

Measures of annual success:

Ø  Number of EB members meeting their own criteria for success

Ø  SBA income and expenditure against budget

Ø  Number of new ideas

Ø  Attendances at BE and SBA meetings

 

Other important relationships with:

Ø  Bowls England

Ø  Club Officers (particularly Hon. Secretaries)
